Family Vacation: Award Night

Just as we did in 2013, this year we capped off the theme nights with an Award night! Last year each person was assigned another family member to give an award. This year, we decided to give teams awards and had each of the family vote using the always fabulous Survey Monkey. The survey also captured feedback on this year's planning and ideas for next year (Pirates, Slumber Party, NASCAR, and Family Olympics for our awards).

Right before we announced the winners, each member of the family was introduced and walked the red carpet to show off their outfits.

After the awards were all distributed, the victors sojourned to the porch before dinner for the family shots.

God I love this crew
After a wonderful week it was nice to celebrate and get a little goofy. Ok, we spent the whole week being goofy, but still. Such a good week that it's August and I'm still writing about it. That or I need a life. Probably both. Until next time!

Family Vacations: Medieval Times

One day between theme nights, we decided that we wanted to get out for dinner. With a six year old, this often represents a challenge since six year olds don't love sitting at a restaurant chit chatting for hours (a hobby in our family). Solution? Medieval Times!

Kyle and I are huge nerds and we love cheesy dinner theater. Bad food, big productions, watered down mixed drinks. Sign. me. up.

Most of the family had never been to Medieval Times before including Zoe. It was set, we loaded up the cars, and headed off to cheer for our actor er knight. For the most part everyone got pretty into it. I mean, how can you not? Our gallant knight even threw Zo-zo a flower. Side note: she tends to get pretty distracted while eating but she was so engaged and ate every bit on her plate. Who knew the trick to kids improved appetite was Medieval play fighting?

A fun little interlude to all the themes. There is a similar show that features pirates that we will likely visit next year, in full costume no less.

Up next, Hollywood/Award night!

Our first few days with Pierce

Fair warning - this post is going to have a TON of pictures. I can't get enough of our sweet little Pierce. She's full of energy for about 10 minutes and then falls back asleep, it must be tiring being a puppy.

Around the House

Pierce spends about 75-80% of her time sleeping. When she plays she's so much fun; pouncing at toys, playing fetch, running around, but when she sleeps she just oh so cute. That's really the only time you can photograph her though. Otherwise she's just a blur. We're spending a lot of time with her in the house getting her potty trained and sleep/crate training, really getting to enjoy this stage.

Watching TV

Her favorite place to sleep while I'm working (don't mind the wires)

I love when she falls asleep on me

Big paws - she will be a big girl

She loves crawling into tight spaces - but she probably won't fit for long!

Not wanting to wake up

Visiting the Center

On Saturday we took Pierce to visit the Penn Vet Center and she had a blast! Running around and trying out each of the agility obstacles. She's already mastered climbing through or under everything. They have a ton of different terrain set up to get the pups used to walking on uneven or unusual ground. The only one Pierce really showed an interest in was the slide, which was hilarious. She was slipping all over the place.

Uhhh this is slippery

Meeting the Family

We spent all of Sunday with my family celebrating my mom's birthday, and they all got to meet Pierce. Zoe decided she was the babysitter and demanded $500 for her services :-) Always love a visit with my family and I'm so glad they loved Pierce! We set up a baby pool for her and she was going buck wild. I was enjoying the show way to much to take pictures or video.

Having so much fun

Sorry I'm not sorry for the picture overload. I can't stop!
