About Alison

I’m not really sure what to say about myself, so I suppose I’ll just give you some fun facts. Here goes!

I got married to a fantastic man on September, 28th.
My husband, Kyle, is a kind, loving, funny man who is always looking for opportunities to be better and do better – a quality I admire. Kyle and I met at work and fell hard and fast for one another. Every day since has been an adventure of epic proportions and I can’t wait to see what else is in store.

I’m originally from Canada, eh?
Usually when I share this tidbit with people I get these reactions “OMG, seriously? I never would have guessed! You don’t seem Canadian!”  I’m not sure how to act more Canadian, but clearly I’m not hitting the mark.

I’m a planner, a worrier and an over thinker.
Sometimes this serves me well like in my work as a project manager or organizing family events. However, this fun trait also makes me go over simple conversations in my head a million times and stress over things other people wouldn’t think twice about. Small example: Getting ready for a night out typically results in a MILLION outfit changes and tons of stress. My husband loves it! J

My family is the best in the world.
I know, I know, everyone says this about their family but seriously, they’re the best. We are very close friends and choose to spend a lot of our time together. If I’m ever in need of a good belly laugh, great advice, or to celebrate something, a dinner at my parents’ house with the whole gang will do the trick. Luckily my brother and I both picked spouses who fit right into the fold.

I love to craft.
Unfortunately I don’t always have the time to devote to a project. I would love to get to everything on my Pinterest board, but that’s a lofty goal.

I’m a big beer drinker.
My interest started post-college with wheat beers and hefeweizen and grew into hoppier, heavier brews thanks to my husband. Kyle and I enjoy visiting brewers and actually stopped off in San Francisco on the way back from our honeymoon in Maui to visit a few.

I’m claustrophobic.
Very much so and I have no idea where it came from. Stairs are my friend. Trying to work on this one – anxiety is the worst!

My niece is incredibly important to me.
Zoe was born when I was 21 and she changed all of us forever. Amazing kid.

I love Harry Potter and Disney.
Go ahead, judge away. Love it. I’ve been to Disney World (and of course the Wizarding World of Harry Potter) more as an adult then as a child.

I’m terrible at keeping up with people.
I always intend to, but somehow I never seem to. I treasure people that are very good at this and hope to pick up this trait along the way.

I love to cook and bake.
But only when I can devote real time to it. I dislike coming home from a busy work day and having to prep a meal. I’d prefer take-out and a glass of wine Monday – Thursday!

Buying a house is my # 1 priority right now.
I’m so tired of renting. We love our apartment and it’s treated us well for the last 3 or so years, but I’m so eager to get a place of our own. Mostly because…

We want a dog!
We are definitely dog people and have been planning out what breeds we’d want and what we’d name them for what seems like forever. However, being responsible pet owners is really important to us, so we’ve been holding off. I don’t believe it’s humane to crate a dog for a large portion of the day or not devoting the time to training the dog properly. **I recognize that people may disagree with me here, but for my pet, I would not choose to crate longer than a couple hours** We also would really like to get two at once as they tend to be pack animals and that would make any extended time without us home a bit more bearable.

I am very self-conscious.
It’s something I’ve been trying to work on for quite some time, but with these things it’s taking small steps to improve. It’s a useless, almost selfish emotion and ain’t nobody got time for that. J Trying to remember these mantras: 51 personal mantras for empowerment (aka stop talking shit to yourself).

I like pretty much everyone.
It takes a lot for me to dislike someone. It has certainly happened, but it’s rare. If we’ve met, I probably like you, you’re awesome.

So that’s me! The good, the bad and the obscure. Being in my late 20s (omg) I now have the benefit of perspective. I am who I am! Thanks for checking out my about me page!
